The General Vol. 23 #1 W/ 2 Variants With Bonus!!! The magazine is in excellent condition.Articles include: (See Pictures) The first variant for this auction is for Avalon Hill’s Victory in the Pacific game. It consists of 9 new units and 18 updated units. The new units consist of 4 Essex class CV’s. One, the Hancock (CV 19) which should have been included in the game arrives on turn 6. The Randolph (CV 15), the Bennington (CV 20) and the Bon Homme Richard (CV 31) arrived late in the war but they still participated in combat. Three new Allied air units are included and I also added the Montana class battleship the USS Maine (BB 69; I included the USS Montana and the USS Ohio in the variant in General 17 3) and also included the battleship version, which would have been the second sister ship of the Yamato, the Shinano. The update units include the Essex class CV’s: the air strike factor is raised from a four to a five since they each operated with over 100 combat aircraft. Also, the air strike factors the Akagi, the Shokaku and the Zuikaku are lowered by one at the start of the game and raised to its normal level on turn three. The author said that for the first two turns these CV’s operated with a less than full capacity of aircraft. The Shinano (CV) is also given a lower air strike factor because it only operated with 47 planes.
