This beautiful embroidery has been donated to our Church from the family who will have made it around the Coronation in 1937. It commemorates the Coronation of George VI on 12 May 1937, and as well as the letters 'G' and 'E' (George & Elizabeth), there is a daffodil, clover, thistle and a rose representing the areas of the UK. It is a hand made embroidery, possibly a decorative fire cover? Maybe someone will know more about what it will have been made for. The material, which is a light brown colour, measures 39cm by 45cm, and the actual pattern is 32cm by 26cm. I can email further pictures if required. Being stored in a pet and smoke free home. Thank you for reading, and - all proceeds going to St Paul's Free Church of England.
