GERONIMO APACHE CHIEF HORSEBACK WITH SOLDIERS ORIGINAL VINTAGE 1907 POSTCARD

This original vintage postcard shows Geronimo, the famous Apache Chief, under guard by the U. S. Cavalry. Geronimo is wearing an unusual hat and fringed gloves. The card is by George B. Cornish and copyrighted 1907. It is a type of gravure known as Albertype that was popular around the turn of the 20th century. Cornish was a frontier photographer in Arkansas City, Kansas, just over the border from the famous 101 Ranch where he photographed many of the cowboys and cowgirls that worked on the ranch and in the 101 Ranch Wild West Show. Cornish's postcards and prints were sold as souvenirs at Wild West Shows and remain popular as first hand images of life on the frontier. This postcard is an image most likely made when Geronimo was passing through the area accompanied by soldiers and it was featured on an episode of "History Detectives" several years ago.
The card will be shipped promptly and will be very well protected.
