GIGANTIC #6 CAST IRON KETTLE-WASH POT-COOKWARE-CAULDRON-MARKED- 's a incredible antique #6 cast iron kettle straight from a farm auction in the Ozarks. This pot is really, really huge. It's 26" across, 15.5" deep and 84" around. It has 3 legs on the bottom (they are slightly too short for the pot to sit steady on) a handle on both sides and a heavy bail handle.

This kettle is marked on the bottom "DR SPERRY & CO BATAVIA ILL". We have never seen one of these before. We looked it up on the web and it seems it was made around 1870. D.R. Sperry & Company was organized by D. R. Sperry and A. N Merrill in 1868 and incorporated in 1876, with Sperry as president. This foundry was located at the corner of Wilson and Water Streets in Batavia, Ill. Originally, the company manufactured a line of farm boilers, kettles, and cookware."

It's in great condition and has no cracks, holes, leaks or rust. T are some very slight pits in the bottom but they are extremely shallow. It has a thin coat of black spray paint on it to deter any rust. This is an antique USA made pot, not one of the cheap imports. These are near impossible to find, especially marked and in this condition, and are great for your cookouts or re-enactments. If you are the winner of this auction you will have won a true American treasure. Thanks for looking
