Gorham Japanese Pattern Sterling 5" Brite Cut Bowl

The Japanese pattern by Gorham was introduced circa 1870 and the holloware with the Japanese motifs was introduced around the same time to match the flatware. The bowl seen was produced in 1879 depicted by the letter L in the marks as seen below. The other marks are the Gorham lion, anchor, G and the numbers 340 with the L below the numbers. This lovely bowl is 5" across and 1 1/2 " tall. The weight is 4 1/4 ounces. It is in excellent condition and only slightly out of round, barely noticeable to the eye as you can also see in the pictures below also. This is a prized piece of sterling in one of the more rare pattern produced by Gorham.
