We are proud to offer for sale this whimsical frog pitcher by Gorky Gonz áles, the famous potter of Guanajuato, Mexico. Each piece that we are offering for sale has been hand-selected by us at his factory workshop in Mexico. In latin cultures, frogs (lanas) are good luck symbols and often given as gifts.

Gorky Gonz áles, founder and artistic director of Alfareria Tradicional , began his studies under his father, the sculptor Rodolfo Gonz ález. In 1965 Gorky Gonz ález was granted a scholarship to study pottery in Japan, under the artists Tsuji Seimei and Kei Fijiwara, considered Japan's national living treasures.

Since his return from Japan, Gorky Gonz áles has devoted himself to the preservation of the traditional Majolica technique in Mexico, utilizing the traditional designs and forms of the spanish colonial period in Mexico (1521-1810). Alfareria Tradicional has become the most important Majolica workshop in Mexico.
