Charming antique Griffen Smith & Hill Etruscan majolica creamer in the Wild Rose pattern, with a butterfly lip on the spout. Handle missing but otherwise in lovely condition.

Molded, off-white, earthenware body, relief molded with sprays of roses, a butterfly forming the pouring lip, and a basket-weave base. Decorated with beautiful polychrome tin glazes under a clear shiny topglaze. Pink interior. Footrim glazed and wiped.

Marks: Unmarked.

Date: Late 19th Century.

Condition: Missing its handle. Fine crazing inside and out, some of it darkened. Two pinhead fleabites on the rim to one side of the spout. Absolutely no scratching or wear in the glaze. Interior very clean and unstained. Absolutely no hairlines or repairs. A very decorative little piece of antique majolica pottery that, without the handle, makes a delightful bud vase.
