This is a very unique and rare offering from the Pacific Island of Guam U.S.A. This extremely rare pin is from the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. This is the Guam Biathlon Team Pin. It is new and unused in the original plastic zip bag. This large pin is 1 inch wide. It has a typical Clutch pin clasp on the back. Would also make a perfect gift for any sports memorabilia collector.

That is right, a Winter Biathlon pin from a Tropical Island! YES the Tropical Island of Guam competed in the Winter Olympic Games for the first time (and only time) at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, with participation by a single biathlete: Judd Bankert, in the Men's 10 km sprint, he finished in 71st place.

Judd Bankert was not only Guam's only Winter Olympian, he was the island's very first Olympic athlete. He carried the Guam flag into the opening ceremonies of the 1988 Winter Olympics. In the Olympic 10-K biathlon Bankert was competing in only his third biathlon. Though he skied well, he missed four out of the ten targets during the competition and as a result had to ski eight penalty laps which had a significant impact on his final time.
