Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, Pennsylvania

3 Gallon Decorated Jar with Bird

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, America's Source for Antique Stoneware , is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jar made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA ."

Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features Three Freehand Stripes at the Top, the Company Name and Address Surrounding a Bird Ready to Take Flight in the Middle, and a Capacity Number and Stripe at the Bottom. The stencil is complete, crisp, and dark like we like it! As you know, birds are not a typical decoration on SW PA stoneware. Stands 7 3/4" tall.

Good Condition. Waterglass rings inside from use, chips on the underside of the overhanging rim, two 1/2" chips on the left handle, and a restored reversed "s" crack on the left side from below the handle to the bottom where it ends on the underside as a crow's foot. The restoration is amateur, but solid. No inner rim or base chips, or stains. Please view the full gallery of pictures as part of the description.
