You are bidding on a set of SIX of my hand painted 54mm Confederate soldiers depicting the 28th North Carolina Regiment during their assault on the "copse of trees" on Cemetery Hill during Pickett's Charge during the Battle Of Gettysburg on July 3rd, 1863! The Confederates were unsuccessful in this attack in spite of their heroic efforts to take the hill and defeat the Union Army defending it, but the charge has remained famous for the valian effort made...
This North Carolina Regiment formed up in Septmeber, 1861, and sent to Virginia in May, 1862, and fought through the next three years before the final action before the end at Appomattox, going into action almost immediately after arriving in Virginia, and seeing some very hard combat for the entire War! They got to the High Water Mark at Gettysburg, where their well known flag was captured by the Union Army, to be returned in the next century. But the unit was not destroyed in this action, and fought again in almost every battle in the East from the Seven Days to Appomattox!
