This stunning HCA Glass Ultra Blue BULL was made for the Heisey Collectors of America, and was purchased from a large personal collection at an estate sale in New Martinsville, West Virginia. The first of these Ultra Blue Bulls were made by the Imperial Glass Company for Heisey in 1984, and were unmarked. Only ten Ultra Blue bulls were made--and only 6 were of 1st quality. After the Imperial Glass Company closed, the Ultra Blue bulls were made once again for Heisey Collectors of America. Fenton produced many glassware animals for HCA, but since the letter -D- accompanies the HCA logo on this Ultra Blue bull, it is likely that it was manufactured by Dalzell Viking Glass. (Referenced "Collector's Guide to Heisey and Heisey by Imperial Glass Animals" by Frank L. Hahn and Paul Kikeli.) With rich, glowing cobalt and sleek glossy lines, this HCA Ultra Blue bull offers a dramatic display. Solid, heavy. 4" tall, 8" in length. Small, inverted straw marks follow up the back of the bull's neck and between his eyes. On the underside of the back foot base, t is a narrow chip, but, due to the bevel of the glass, it can be seen only with closest inspection when the piece is turned upside down. I believe it is a manufacture flaw, for it appears to have been polished during production, and, as the photos demonstrate, it is not visible when displayed.
