Clean image with the words "Tuesday with Comedy" written in grease pencil in the area the theaters used to announce the showing and coming attractions. This can easily be removed and does not detract from the value or image.

In the early years of cinema, glass slides were used by movie theaters to preview and announce coming attractions. Most were produced during the heyday of the silent film era with production falling off sharply after the introduction of "talkies", although some movie houses continued their use into the early 1950's. This slide, 4" x 3 1/4", is the type "framed" by two pieces of cardboard. The cardboard is stapled together with the name of the film stamped on the top edge. Framed type slides do not include the clear glass panel that sometimes was used to protect the image slide. Slides of this type are rare in good condition as the images were easily damaged. The cardboard edge also displays the manufacturer of the slide for the film company or film distributor. This slide was made by the " Excelsior Illustrating Co., Inc., 219-221 Sixth Ave., N.Y.
