Historic Clock L.M.S.

Pricing & History

The historic Derby Locomotive Engineering Workshops originated in the 1840s and among the first engine sheds was the historic round shed attached to the number one workshop. This clock was in the round shed when I worked there, as an apprentice, in the 1960s and several years ago I bought it from a painter, from the Locomotive Works, who informed me it was one and the same as the one I knew all those years ago. It was maintained in house and I worked as an apprentice with the man who repaired and wound all the clocks - he served his time at Smith's of Derby - clock makers.

It measures 11.5 inches in diameter and is of oak construction. The key is present though I have never wound it.

The face is entirely original and though flakey it has never been touched.

I suspect this clock is serviceable and may benefit from repainting the face.
