HO Brass/ Westside/ GE 44 ton Diesel
- Source: eBay
Produced by Nishikawa of Japan and imported in 1971 by Westside, this GE 44 ton switcher was purchased new by its present owner, a large West Coast collector. It has been in the box since the present owner purchased it in September of '71. It is powered by a Katsumi made DH13 open frame motor. The gear train is all metal with all wheels powered. Operation is "stiff" and a bit noisy, but there is good potential with a careful break-in and a bit of lubrication. The prototype used for the model was UP #1399, but it is also very similar to SP and Santa Fe engines. For more info and prototype photos see G-File #26.
The box is original and in good condition and the foam is new. An interesting piece for the brass diesel collector.
