The Holy Bible , containing the Old Testament and the New, Newly Translated out of the Original Tongues, and with the Former Translations Diligently Compared and Revised, By His Majesty's Special Command. Appointed to be read in Churches. London, printed by C. Eyre and A. Strahan, His Majesty's Printers. No date. But because the printers on the title page of the Old Testament are Charles Eyre (father of George Eyre) and Andrew Strahan (son of William Strahan), the printing of the Old Testament must have happened between 1795 and 1802 . The title page of the New Testament has as printers Charles Eyre and William Strahan (Andrew's father), which means that this section of the Bible is an earlier printing, perhaps 1772 or 1773. 1309pp. 8 3/8" x 5 1/4" x 2 1/8". All leather binding with gold stamping on spine. Contemporary writing and some light moisture stains on a few pages. Spine crown and heel a tad frayed. Overall, VG(+) for its age. Names of former owners of this Bible include: George Bulford and Priscilla Bulford. ======= Difference in the title pages of two editions of the Eyre-Strahan bibles: -- The 1772 edition has "containing the Old and New Testaments", while this edition has the grammatically more correct "containing the Old Testament and the New"; etc., etc.
