All-Steel K Type Pullman Car

3rd Class Parlour Brake Car No79

In an era when virtually all railway companies were running wooden framed rolling stock, the all-steel K Type design was particularly innovative. Although a number of cars entered into service with the GWR, it was with the LNER’s Queen of Scots service that the majority of the cars entered into traffic.

Hornby’s lit Pullman cars are renowned for their quality and the newly tooled K Type Pullman Cars continue this tradition. Each car is fitted with subtly glowing table lamps and has extensive interior detail making for a set of truly stunning models.

Pullman steel-bodied K class cars, a large class coaches designed to be adaptable into differing configurations and constructed from the 1930s and lasting in service until the end of traditional Pullman services under British Railways. Many of the Pullmans on heritage railways and used for the VSOE tour trains are K class or cars derived from this design.
