REPRODUCTION CAVALRY HORSE EQUIPMENTS Lariat, Picket Pin, Stirrups USED BY FORMER MEMBER OF COMPANY C, 7TH ILLINOIS CAVALRY, REENACTMENT GROUP My old steel picket pin which is painted black with the head of the pin in red. I painted the head after the first time my horse managed to unsnap himself from the pin and it took my twenty minutes to find the thing in the grass. It comes with a steal S hook which can be used to hang the pin and its lariat from a tree or tent ridge pole. The lariat I used for attaching my less than calm horse to the picket pin. It is a regular heavy soft cotton lead rope about 8 feet in length which I attached another snap to. This allows the horse to graze while attached to the pin. Also included is a very heavy matched pair of steel stirrups of unknown origin but it looks like they would make a nice set of artillery stirrups. I had the stirrups bead blasted years ago which is why they appear dull grey. I used the rope and pin for years of service with the Seventh during the 1980s. All still in good serviceable condition. The leather dog collar is being tossed in free to hold the stirrups together. EMAIL FOR HIGH RESOLUTION IMAGE
