You are bidding on one of the largest Carcharocles Megalodon teeth I've personally ever seen from the Calvert Cliffs area. Calvert Cliffs, Maryland is known for the wide variety of Miocene era (5-22 MYO) marine fossils. Some say the most beautiful fossil shark teeth in the world come from these cliffs. The megalodon is among the most sought after fossil from these cliffs, ranging from under one inch to a wopping 7 inches. I've been an avid fossil hunter for the past 2 years, making a trip to the cliffs at least once a week and I'm still yet to find a meg over 3.25. A 4.5 inch tooth is a very rare event, which makes these large teeth from this area even more sought after. This particular tooth came from the northern end of the cliffs which also makes it the oldest. This tooth has a 100% thick, complete bourlette! On a slant height the tooth measures just over 4.5 inches. Truly a monster for this area. The tip is slightly worn but the only missing serrations on the blade are on the side. Only 2-3 are missing. If you have any questions about what beach the tooth came from or any questions about the cliffs at all, feel free to ask. Check out my other auctions too. The tooth is 100% natural with no repairs or restorations. Please ask about shipping outside the USA
