HUGE EUROPEAN SILVER COVERED SOUP TUREEN Presented as a large and fine quality European silver soup tureen. This piece can also be used as a large entrée dish or bowl. The handles are beautifully formed and have classical acanthus leaf decoration when they meet the body. The rim of the bowl has shell decoration spread evenly along the edge. This entire piece has a light gold wash on both the interior and exterior. The form is quite nice and the capacity of this piece is quite large. The capacity is probably 3 quarts although I have not measured. PLEASE NOTE T IS NO NOTCH IN THE LID FOR LADLE. This piece is hallmarked on the rim near the base and on the rim of the lid. One hallmark has a five pointed star. This is a Spanish silver hallmark that was used from the late 1930's to the present day. The second hallmark is a fleur-de-lis. This piece is not French. The fleur-de-lis is most likely the stamp of a particular company or region. The purity is 915 out of 1000. This is 1% difference in purity from sterling, essentially this is sterling silver. The overall condition is very good. The lid has one dent with a handle attaches to the body. The dent is hard to notice because of the handle. Please see photos. The base has one minor dent. Any good silversmith could easily touch up these spots. Otherwise t are no breaks, no solder marks,
