Up for your bidding pleasure is this vintage No. 8 Cast Iron DUTCH OVEN. It is marked on the bottom; CAST IRON with a No. 8, GRISWOLD, THE TITE-TOP DUTCH OVEN, ERIE PA., U.S.A., PATENT 1,333,917 also with a number 1278 { see photo }. It has 2 tab handles for the bail handle { bail handle is in good strong condition }. There is also a tab on the rim of the pot for easy pouring. This cast iron pot measures 10 1/4" in diameter at the rim x 4 1/4" tall to the rim. This Dutch Oven is in very good clean condition with no cracks, breaks or repairs and is not warped. There is a Trivet for this pot and it is marked; TRIVET, THE GRISWOLD MFG. CO., 8 ERIE, PA., U.S.A., 206. The lid is made of glass and is marked at the edges of the rim; PYREX, C-M. This lid is in very good condition with no chips or cracks and fits nicely. This unit has been thoroughly cleaned, rubbed down with vegetable oil and is ready for use. All that is needed is to season it to which you put it in the oven at 400 degrees for one hour, clean & re-season as necessary. This is a wonderful old utilitarian piece of cookware that will serve you well for years to come and will make a valued addition to your vintage cast iron cookware collection.
