This is Iron Maiden's seventh album recorded at Musicland Studios, Munich during 1987- March 1988 and was released later that year in April. This is the second Iron Maiden album to feature keyboards played by Michael Kenney, and is also their last album with guitarist Adrian Smith until the 2000 release of Brave New World. 'The Clairvoyant' was the first song to be written for the album and according to Steve Harris, the lyrics were inspired by the death of psychic Doris Stokes.
