Japanese Edo period monumental ivory carved shrine (International shipping IS NOT available on this item. This elephant ivory was imported legally into the United States.) honoring Guanyin Bodhisttva, having an enclosed shrine with the honored figure, the tower finely carved in relief to depict phoenix, dragon and Budhist monk figures on the rectangular pediment, scenes depicting the life of Guanyin Bodhisttva to the back and sides, scenes depicting goddesses on the roof, and crowned with a finial carved to depict a twisted dragon. 25"H. Circa - 18th-19th C.
