One is this rare figural sculpture by the Haitian artist Jasmin Joseph. The other, a unique piece of jewelry by Seley based upon his famed Colleone sculpture, we are offering in a second auction. Joseph, renowned sculptor and painter, was born October 23, 1923. He began his career modeling figures in clay while working at a brick factory in Port-au-Prince. In 1948 the American sculptor Jason Seley visited the brick factory to have some of his own pieces fired, where he saw 30 of Joseph’s sculptures. Seley, who was greatly involved with the modern art movement in Haiti, encouraged Joseph to develop his talent and invited him to the Centre d'Art
