Long case Grandfather clock. Beautiful painted face. Painting shows a girl carrying a basket and wearing a bonnet. She is shown in a rural setting, of cows, sheep and a peddler set to a backdrop of a parish church across a meadow. (Jedburgh Parish Church?). The dial has pairs of pink roses in each corner. On the face ‘Jedburgh’ is clear, and I think it says ‘Rutherford’ on the left. Only think I can find is ‘Walter Rutherford of Jedburgh’ – listed in Old Scotish Clockmakers by John Smith; working from 1836. The hour and minute hands have what appears to be a thistle motif which also suggests Scotland. I know nothing more about it, other than my Scottish Grandfather owned it.Selling as no room. Clock runs, and strikes the hour (although I don’t run it often). Both case and movement completely un-touched; ideal for restoration. The glass on the face has a crack (also looks to have been repaired in the past with modified hinges), and it looks like the case has some brass trim missing at the top. Otherwise complete with winding key, pendulum and weights.Local Pick up only. Will not post. I am on holiday between the 10 th -14 th April, so won’t be able to arrange pick up till after I get back.
