4 JEWISH COLLECTIONS OF SUPERNATURAL/HORROR/FANTASY 1) Mirsky, Mark J(ay). THE SECRET TABLE . New York: Fiction Collective, 1975. First Edition. Fine cloth, in Very Good Plus dustwrapper. Jewish supernatural shorts and novelettes reflecting Mark's interest in Kabbalah. This author teaches English at the City College of New York, and founded the literary magazine Fiction with Donald Barthelme and Max Frisch. Really pleasing copies of The Secret Table are hard to find though exlibs and tatty-ass copies turn up too often. Fine copies catalog $25 to $30.2) Nemerov, Howard. A COMMODITY OF DREAMS and Other Stories. New York: Simon & Schuster, 1959. First Edition. Very Good Plus cloth, in age-darkened dustwrapper. First-rate weird tales by America's poet laureate and brother of weird photographer Diane Arbus. One of my favorite collections. Deserves to be valued much higher, but generally catalogs $20 to $30, very likely because collectors of weird tales haven't found out how good this is.3) Singer, Isaac Bashevis. OLD LOVE . New York: Farrar Straus Giroux, 1979. First Edition. Near Fine cloth, in price-clipped dustwrapper with half-inch chip out of the top edge. Included are weird tales: "Psychic Journey" (paranormal abilities), "Elka and Meir" (Angel of Death), the superior horror story "A Cage for Satan" about a rabbi's war against evil
