Printed for J. and R. Tonson and S. Draper, London, in 1753. Fourth Edition. Brown full-leather binding. Book is in Very Good condition. The first edition was published in 1730, the second in 1733, the third in 1742, and the fourth in 1753. Joseph Addison is most famous for his essays in The Spectator magazine that he founded with Richard Steele. Joseph Addison, The Evidences of the Christian Religion , To which are added, Several Discourses against Atheism and Infidelity, and in Defence of the Christian Revelation, occasionally published by Him and Others: And now collected into one Body, and digested under their proper Heads. With a Preface Concerning the Sentiments of Mr. Boyle, Mr. Lock, and Sir Isaac Newton concerning the Gospel-Revelation. Printed for J. and R. Tonson and S. Draper, London, in 1753. "Fourth Edition" stated on the title page, which is also dated 1753 in Roman numerals. Brown full-leather binding with raised bands on the spine, gilt ruling on the front and rear covers, and no lettering on the spine as issued. xxvi + 330 pages. Book measures 6 5/8" x 4 1/8" x 1 1/8". Condition : Very Good. Moderate wear to the leather all around.
