Presentation prints of Julius Shulman prints are frequently available for sale in auctions. However, original contact working prints of his work are rare, and seldom offered at auction.

This is an original 4" by 5" contact print, black & white glossy, printed in the mid 1990s from the original 1930s negative.

provenance: This contact print was given to me by Julius Shulman in the mid 1990s when I began working on the Richard Neutra Miller House book.

The contact print, measuring 4" x 5" is printed directly from the original negative - no cropping, no darkroom manipulation, and it reveals Shulman's early compositional mastery early in his career (The Miller House was one of Shulman's first commissions from Richard Neutra). This contact print was printed in the mid 1990s from the original 4 x 5 negative.
