Marigold Garden, Pictures and Rhymes by Kate Greenaway. Printed in colours by Edmund Evans. Published by George Routledge And Sons. No date but before 1901 when Routledge sold the rights to Warne. Routledge was at this address by 1887 and possibly earlier. Assumed 1st edition later printing. 60 numbered pages. There is a dedication poem at front on a unnumbered page which was only in the first editions. Front and rear covers match. Pictorial boards have a brown/burgandy cloth spine. Corners and edges are worn. Front hinge is cracked but stable. I suspect that the binding was reglued at some point as the free endpapers are missing and the last page's edge is glued at spine. Most if not all the pages are soiled from grubby little fingers. Several pages have closed tears - the worst is shown in the 5th picture. The last signature is free from spine at bottom inch. Every page has the delicate colored artwork of Greenaway. A very early copy of this classic. Overall condition is Fair All my books are as described.
