Kaufman Brothers & Bondy - KBB - introduced the Yello-Bole line of pipes in 1932 as a way to use the briar that did not meet the higher cosmetic grading standards KBB demanded in its Kaywoodie line of pipes that were at the time some of the most desirable pipes in the world. Thisa nice KBB Yello-Bole Premier Patented and "Cured With Real Honey" pipe from that era. It's marking indicate it was most likely made between 1935 and the beginning of World War II in 1941 when aluminum became unavailable to pipes makers because it was needed in the war effort.This pipe has the standard patented shovel-style drinkless mechanism of the era. It can be smoked with or without the drinkless mechanism This pipe has no teeth marks on its uniquely tapered stem. It has only been lightly smoked at the best. It is light in weight attesting to the excellent curing of its briar since it was made. It laid in storage gathering dust and dirt for over half a century before I found it so I removed the old finish on the briar and treated the natural briar with a hand- rubbed of car anuba wax. The air channel through the shank is a precise 4mm. This pipe restored quite well and is a good, solid smoking pipe with a lot of life left in it.
