Model #1040 Field Knife, manufactured in KAI Japan for Kershaw, is a folding style lockback with a AUS6A Stainless Steel blade. The handle is finger-grooved White Bone (which totally and distinctively sets it apart from the usual #1040) with brass liner and bolsters, and was originally intended for Scrimshaw Art. This early 80's knife is no ordinary Kershaw. While a tough, rugged, and durable design, and primarily designed for field use, the 1040 is one of the most desirable, beautiful, and contoured to fit knives available. It's one of the most sought after knives manufactured in Kai Japan for Kershaw. Comes complete with basket-weave leather sheath (note: Although the sheath was provided to me by Kershaw, t are no identifying stampings on the sheath to indicate that the sheath is from Kershaw. The knife was originally intended for Scrimshaw Art, and scrimshaw items are not usually provided with a sheath. But I wanted and asked for a sheath, and Kershaw gave me this generic sheath). The knife has never been used nor sharpened, blade has a mirror-finish, is totally immaculate and new, and never handled except to photograph, never displayed or carried. I store my collection in a large temperature
