Published by J.B. Lippincott Company, Philadelphia and New York, 1960. Original dust-jacket with printed publisher's price of $3.95 and stated "eighth printing" printed on lower front inside dust-jacket flap. Copyright page lists date as 1960, with eighth impression noted and "W" present directly below printing. 296 pages. Original brown boards covered by light green cloth spine. While jacket indicates a trade edition, the rear lower cover does have the tell-tale book club slug in the form of a round circle. TKAM was reprinted at least 14 times during the first year of publication, with several book club editions published concurrent with the trade edition. Whether this copy is a married jacket and book, or a trade edition utilizing a book club printing to fill out print run cannot be known. What is certain is the it is a very early printing in a priced, non book club dust-jacket.
An unknown author in 1960, Lee's first published work was released in an initial print run of only 5,000 copies. An immediate success, the book was reprinted no less than 14 times during the first year of publication, making this copy a desirable and early printing.
