Knights Templar Masonic Sword by F S Armstrong Chicago

Knights Templar Masonic Sword by F S Armstrong Chicago DESCRIPTION This sword is made sometime between 1875 and 1925 by FS Armstrong and Company in Chicago (see marking). It includes a chain hand guard, a knight's head pommel, and a scrimshaw type engraved handle. One side of the handle is engraved with the "AW" monogram of the original owner, the other side has a multi cross in a cross. The sheath has three separate areas of enamel work, all on crosses, including a cross and crown. The blade is engraved with the name of the manufacturer, the name of the original owner, and with pictographic Masonic symbols.
Physical condition is exactly as found, and exactly as would be expected in an unimproved sword of this vintage. The finish on the sheath and handle is tarnished and/or rubbed off to a great extent. T are two cracks on nearly opposite sides of the handle. The blade is complete and in very good condition, but it does show tarnish as well. T is a slight wobble to the hilt when wiggled back and forth. The sword/sheath combination stands 38 1/2 inches tall.
This is a very attractive candidate for inclusion in a collection of Masonic memorabilia.
