This is a beautiful teapot from an estate made by KPM or Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur in Berlin, Germany also called Royal Berlin. This particular design is called Arkadia (Arcadia) or Cameo and is described in an article like this: "ARKADIA was created by Trude Petri in 1938 on the occasion of KPM's 175th anniversary. The design is marked by clear lines; the receptacles are cylindrical and conical. Medallions made of unglazed porcelain (biscuit porcelain) depicting the history of the paradise of Arcadia adorn the service's individual pieces. Arcadia, in the Peloponnesus in Greece, was the scene of Hellenistic and Roman pastoral literature. Demeter, Amor and Pan serve as decorative motifs for the porcelain." The teapot is a shiny white with a medallion or cameo in matte featuring a Greek man with a lion, a ram and what looks like a lute. The underside is marked with a blue underglaze scepter. The pot measures 4" tall and measures 7 3/4" from spout to handle. It is in excellent condition - no cracks, chips or crazing. Please check out the other items I have up for bid from this collection. I will combine shipping. Thank you!!!
