A lovely little Lachenal concertina which would be ideal for a learner who wants a reasonably priced genuine concertina as distinct from the cheap, modern accordion-reeded copies which don't hold their value-this one will! It is a Lachenal with rosewood ends, bone buttons, brass reeds and 5 fold bellows. It comes in its original case -which is not in bad condition-it is just missing the strap-which they all do-and that is easily remedied. The concertina has new pads, valves and is tuned to concert pitch. This work is £200-300 and if you buy a concertina which has not had that work done, you will have to pay at least that for it to play properly and be useful. The rosewood stained ends are very nice for a concertina that is over 100 years old and so are the bellows. Generally it is in very good condition. Brass reeds are always more gentle in sound than steel ones and are common on the cheaper concertinas. All the notes play and it sounds very pleasant. I have seen cheap modern copies at £600-700 and they are worth £200-300 the minute you buy them. This is a genuine, antique, restored concertina for less money. If you want to start playing English concertina-this just has to be a better purchase-and I will give its value back in part exchange if you wish to upgrade at some future time-you can't do that with the cheap copies!
