Up for auction is an miniature hanging perfume vessel with matching ground glass stopper by glass artistJesse Kohl. Mr. Kohl began working glass at the age of fourteen under thetutelage of Paul Trautman Jr at Northstar Glassworks in Tigard Oregon. He then studied under Suellen Fowler and has acted as her teaching assistant at numerous classes. In conjunction with the developing colored glass while acting as the technical director of Northstar Glassworks, Jesse has offered classes in the John Burton method of flameworking and played an active role in the creation of the Northstar Boro News Newsletter. He has taught at Corning Glass, The Hadamar Glass School in Germany, as well as demonstrating at the New Orleans G.A.S conference, the 2005 ISGB conference, and the Glasstec 2002 convention in Germany. The colored glass he utilizes is a combination of Northstar colored borosilicate and hand mixed colors he creates by blending raw oxides with clear glass in the torch flame. Jesse notes "Borosilicate is an ideal glass for creating glass art and intricate sculptures due to its unique physical properties" Along with these properties the borosilicate color palette is unparalleled to that of any other type of glass, opening many new avenues of exploration for artists.
