New 18" Lapidary slab saw chassis. This is an inexpensive way to acquire a large saw that is often out of reach to most rockhounds without spending thousands for a new one. I have sold many kits in the past and you are welcome to view my feedback. If you are able to contruct a plywood box and line it with fiberglass then you can complete this project. This unit is made to drop into any water tight container. Since it is a heavy, self-contained unit the need for a heavy steel tank isn't required. This unit features a bookend-style vise that opens to 9" without vise liners (not-included) so if you were to use 1/2" plywood you would have an 8" vise opening. The vise glides freely and is very easy to move. It has a 6" crossfeed as well. Blade arbor size is 3/4". The kit also contains a powerfeed motor and this unit is set to cut at app. 10" per hour. Rigging an adjustable auto-shutoff is easily done by using a chain or other device attached to your on/off switch. I don't supply those items but can give some guidance regarding those areas. These are smooth cutting units and you can build a box for it very cheap. You can try to build your own saw if you want but may be surprised how costs add up fast and it's not uncommon for a machinist to want $200+ to make the arbor that is supplied.
