DRESDEN HAND PAINTED CHERUB DECOR RETICULATED COMPOTE This listing is for a large 19th century German Dresden reticulated compote circa 1898. The compote measures 12 1/4 inches or 31 cm high, and is 12 inches or 30.5 cm across at the top rim. The compote has a large scalloped rim with reticulated open work at the top. There are four hand painted scenes of cherubs around the inside and outside of the top rim in under glaze magenta. The base has two cherubs scenes as well. The rest of the compote is decorated with applied gold and hand painted floral bouquets. The compote is made up of three pieces and is held together with a hand cut rod and nut and plaster of paris, which attest to it's age. Amazingly all the hand painted cherub scenes are different, each unique. The compote is marked with a blue underglaze fish for Dresden. The piece is all hand painted with heavy applied gold decorations. The compote is in very good condition, with the exception of when the piece was joined with plaster of Paris it is slightly askew. This only adds to the originality and charm. Please see the photos for more on the look and condition of this piece. There is no reserve. Shipping anywhere in the US via UPS Ground with full insurance is $25.00. To Canada with USPS International Priority Mail with full insurance is $65.00. International shipping
