A very nice antique brass sign , dating to around 1900 & marked- REFUGE Assurance Company Limited. District Office. It measures approx 21" by 12" & is in very good original condition.The company was founded in 1858 by James Procter & George Robbins in Dunkfield Cheshire. The head office was in Manchester & they were still going till 1987 when they were bought out by a larger firm for 1.6 billion pounds. This sign is from a district office close to Shrewsbury , that closed in the 1950's & was kept by the manager. It has great charm & character & will look fantastic in any room , a real talking point & a real piece of history.A good color , with a good patina it shows it's age & looks wonderful. Postage for the UK is free of charge , but due to the high weight International shipping won't be cheap. Please remember this is over 100 years old & so will have many tiny marks / scratches etc from age .Thanks for looking & please also view the other interesting items we have for sale.
