This is the Garnier Frères 1869 publication of Grandville's Les Metamorphoses du Jour (480 pages), with an introductory bio of Grandville by Charles Blanc, and accompanying french text by Albéric DeLord, H. De Beaulieu, Louis Huart, Charles Monselet and Julien Lemer. The cover (app. 10.5" x 7.5") - red leather spine and corners, textured red boards, extensive gilt design and lettering to the spine, which has 4 raised bands - has several scuffs, a few stains, and shallow corner bumps. The spine is slightly slanted, but securely attached. The gilt is unfaded. The inside (480 pages) is in very good condition, with all 70 colored plates unfaded, clean, and with their tissue guards in place. The colored frontispiece, with no tissue guard is also in excellent condition (see photo). The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. There are no stamps or other attachments. The only tear I've found to is the edge of one tissue guard. There are no notable creases. There is no writing. There is occasional light edge foxing, and some spot foxing to a small number of page faces, but most pages have none, and no pages have any prominent foxing. There is a twelve page section with a light line crossing the top - apparently a water or like stain. As with the foxing, this is not prominent, as can be seen in the rightmost photo, above.
