You are viewing Lionel's 1956 version of a Baltimore & Ohio F-3 with its original boxes and rare master carton in near perfect condition. Very few opportunities come along like this, as this is one of the finest examples of the B&O you might find. The history of this AB is simple. It was found in a house in Bethesda, Maryland in 1973 by my good friend Mr. Larry House and was a part of his collection until the late 80s when he was kind enough to sell it to me.
The condition of the engines and boxes are superior. The tricolored diesel has crisp lines and just one minute rub on the last fan. See pictures. Some collectors prefer a rub or two to be comfortable with the fact that no one has touched up the piece. The lettering is bright yellow and consistent throughout. The pinstripe is perfectly consistent all the way around the diesel. No rubs or missing paint. There are no thumb and finger finger rubs where the engine and B unit are usually picked up. The dark gray wears away when handled from the top. There are no chips or dents on the rear of the A unit where the roof meets the back and the B unit is free of marks on both ends also. The frame is perfect and, as you know, it can get marked very easily with use. There are no rub marks on the marker lenses on any corner of the A or B unit. There is no oxidation or signs
