LLOYD'S REGISTER 1846 Original publication of the Register of British and Foreign Shipping built of wood and built of iron driven by sail or steam. (ship type, tonnage, building port, Masters name, Owner, destined voyage) It records a list of vessels classed by the Liverpool Committee and the Steam Packets employed in the conveyance of mail. A list of Agents to Lloyd's in England and Scotland, Committee of Management, Subscribers and the names of Surveyors who were exclusive and none exclusive servants to the Society are shown. Timbers to be used and their application and the Rules to be observed in building ships, Form of the Report of Survey and example of Certificate of Classification are shown together with requirements for First Class and iron fastened vessels. The Register measures some 8" X 5 ¼ " X 2". The condition is good, with no apparent foxing, considering an age of more than 160 years, with slight minor rubbing to outer edges and spine.
