Dust jackets are slightly worn on the corners and spine top and bottom. Paper-covered boards with paste-down picture are slightly worn at the corners and at the spine top and bottom. Pictorial eps. Bookplate from the Susquehanna County Historical Society on the paste-down ep. Pages are clean with no tears or writing. Books are tight and odor-free from a nonsmoking home. Description: "The author used to tell stories to her little son as they walked through the fields and woods. The tales were always based on the country traditions and country folk she knew so well in her own childhood. When her son went away to school, she missed these story-telling walks and decided instead to write down the tales so that he could read them when he came home. She never told the same story twice, so the first one she wrote was absolutely new. From these happy beginnings t has grown the whole series of the enchanting little books." This lot includes: #1.
