Offered is a group of (20) different photographs originally taken by legendary photographer George Burke in the late 1920's and 1930's. The offered grouping are contemporary 5" x 7" prints, TYPE II later-generation re-strikes made in the last twenty years by his disciple, George Brace who went on to become a standout photographer himself. These are nice in that Brace made these off Burke's original negatives providing contrast and clarity equal to their original 1920's-1930's 1st generation TYPE I counterparts but at a more affordable cost. And because these were hand-developed by Brace, they do have collector value as opposed to cheap modern reproductions (each carry Brace's credit stamp on the reverse). And many feature rare images where a TYPE I vintage original would be difficult to locate.
The offered grouping consist of Burke's "portrait" shots. Regarded as one of the best portrait photographers in any sport, several are noted classic images that appear in the baseball cards of the era. All are in Ex/MT or better in condition. A handsome grouping in relation to not one, but two of the most well-known baseball photographers of the 20th Century.
