Lovely 1899 VICTORIAN SILVER VISITING CARD CASE by C.C A beautiful English silver visiting or calling card case hallmarked at Chester, England in 1899 , maker's mark C.C. This is probably the mark of Colen H Cheshire. The case has a fantastic, attractive swirling leafy pattern with passion flowers at the centres of each spiral and lovely wavy edges completing the design. T is an initialled circular cartouche with an attractive petal-like edge. Measures 3 inches long x 1.9 inches wide x 0.3 inches thick (78 mm x 47 mm x 8 mm); it will take cards up to approx 2.8 x 1.6 inches. Weight: 32 grams / 1 oz Troy. The condition is generally very good with excellent hinge and the lid fits superbly. T are a very few small dints and some wear to the edges. The interior gilding is good. Please see the photos.
