This is a very pretty and elegant 1930s bias cut silk velvet evening dress. It is a halter style with plunging backline and interesting detail on the back. The dress has a little capelet with gold metallic ties and a gold lame flower which resembles an orchid. The gold lame trim and ties are lined with a silk Egyptian Revival pattern fabric in soft gold and silver. The lining fabric is not metal in content but is all silk with a very high sheen. The dress is gatd at the high halter neckline and ties in back. It is almost entirely backless. The skirt has a large v shaped outline, like a flat ruffle at the bottom of which is a v shaped gold metallic tip ending in a gold tassle. It closes at the side with snaps and a hook and eye. The bias cut is what gives it the figure hugging, flattering shape so indicative of this Hollywood glamour era of fashion. Condition is excellent. The silk fabric is strong and t are no rubbed areas or holes that I can find. Size is of course slightly variable because of the bias cut but measurements taken on the mannequin are as follows: Bust: 36", Waist: 27", Hips: 36", Length from Center Front Neckline to Hem: 53".
