ATTENTION EBAY !!! THIS IS A PIECE OF WOOD, LEGAL IN ALL 50 STATES......EVEN CALIFORNIA !Up for auction is a very RARE ORIGINAL WWII Type III "INLAND REPLACEMENT" BIRCH M1 Carbine stock set !!!! This stock is marked "P-1" in the slingwell cut, and has a beautiful INLAND" Crossed Cannon Cartouche , on the right hand side of the stock. THIS IS IS A VERY RARE STOCK SET !!!!!!!!!!!!! According to the book, "U.S. M1 CARBINES, WARTIME PRODUCTION", by Craig Riesch, stocks marked "P-1" were Type IV Pottbelly replacement stocks made during the war.(page 117, paragraph 3, in this description, the "P-1" marking is only listed as a Type IV Pottbelly stock replacement. Replacement stocks should not be Cartouched..............BUT THIS ONE IS ! This stock also has a "P" proof mark on the pistol grip area ! ) THIS IS NOT A POTTBELLY STOCK ! This is a Type III stock, marked "P-1" in the slingwell, with a crisp "INLAND" Crossed Cannon Cartouche ! It is also BIRCH !!!!!!!!!!!!An original Type II NARROW CHANNEL, 2 rivet "Saginaw Gear" BIRCH handguard, marked "RSG" for Rockola Machine Corporation - Saginaw Gear ,is included.(2 Rivet BIRCH handguards are also VERY RARE !) Also included is an original "SAGINAW GEAR" buttplate & screw, and a barrel band retaining spring. The Saginaw Buttplate goes for $35-$40 and the original Type II, Narrow Channel "RSG"
