You are bidding on a Macomb Pottery Company Canning Jar. This was manufactured in Macomb, IL. This wonderful Vintage Canning Jar is stamped on the bottom "Macomb Pottery Co." The Macomb Pottery Co.was started in 1880 and became part of the Western Stoneware Company in 1906. This round jar looks like a little crock. The top and inside are glazed brown. There is a "Ball" zinc lid on top. There are 4 round notches on the bottom. I am not sure if this sat on some kind of rack after filling. The notches are part of the original crock. This measures just about 6" tall with the raised lid. There is a small chip on the lip of the jar and another tiny one on the top edge, and a couple in the bottom edge. There is a rust stain on the bottom of the crock. I did not try to remove it. I am leaving that up to the buyer. This is in excellent condition for its age. No hairlines, cracks, stains(other than noted), or repairs. Please view the full set of pictures and email me if you have questions. Note: My father was quite interested in this jar. He remembers them from his childhood. He will be 84 in June.
