"I. D." Magazine was THE BAND BOOK in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1966. It was ALL about the local Bay Area b ands. This is the FIRST San Francisco Edition of the magazine which featured photos and bios of the Baytovens, Big Brother & The Holding Co. (with Janis Joplin pictured!) , Calliope Co., Charlatans , Direct Descendants, Electric Train, Family Dog, Friendly Stranger, Generation, Grateful Dead , J. C. & the Disciples, London Taxi Cab, New Arrivals, New Chessman, Outfit, P. H. Phactor, Pleasant Street Blues Band, Quicksilver , Rolling Stones (exclusive SF photos) , Sopwith Camel, Sound Machine, Stanley & The Four Fendermen, Thornshield, Tom Thumb & the Hitchhikers, VIP's, Virtues & William Penn. The Pre - Jefferson Airplane "Great Society" are not pictured but are listed in the "Bands of the Bay Area" directory! This issue also features an ad promoting the opening of the Straight Theater (in August), and a full page add featuring "The Art Of Rock" plate 2.3 Big Brother/Chet Helms image with a photo of the band where the venue info appears...EXTREMELY cool image.
