The Battle for Iwo Jima Living History Box II
"Among the men who fought on Iwo Jima, uncommon valor was a common virtue." This Battle of Iwo Jima Living History Box is a special collection piece created by myself to give everyone a chance to touch and feel the volcanic sand of Iwo Jima. This is the same sand that was cursed by the Marines as they struggled to get across the beach during this epic battle. The sand is housed in a case that is made from rosewood. The rosewood case is sanded smooth to bring out the luster of this beautiful wood. It has a hinged lid with a small groove that allows easy opening of the box. Mounted on the center of the lid is a beautiful brushed brass emblem showing the raising of the Stars & Stripes on Iwo Jima.
