US Marines Bradford Exchange Lmtd Edition Bougainville Third Issue Plaque/Plate

Up for bid is a wonderful tribute to the Marines in this limitededition Plate Number A7096 from the Bradford Exchange Bougainville. Quoted from the pages World War II History Info,

"Despite these measures, the Japanese maintained pressure against the beachhead, mounting an especially heavy but unsuccessful counterattack as late as March 1944. Success at Bougainville isolated all Japanese forces left in the Solomons. The Japanese sustained comparatively heavy air and naval losses during the campaign, which further crippled the Japanese Combined Fleet and had a vital effect on the balance of naval power in the Central Pacific."

This is the third issue in the USMS collection, limited to a maximum of 295 casting days.

The detail and beauty of this is remarkable. The “plate” is actually a plaque on a wooden attached stand, with USMS gold plate on the front. In the background is a scene of war with an armed Marine up front. The figures show one soldier looking through binoculars, while the other is near a cannon ready to load. This item measures approx. 8 ½ x 7
